Week 14

I've read a few web comics, Cyanide and Happiness being the first that comes to mind along with the eternally infuriating Homestuck.

I've stumbled upon strips from a myriad of web comics without actively reading all of their strips. I will list a few of those.

Here are some I've had recommended to me but haven't finished or started.

One of my favorites is hands down, Lackadaisy.

Lackadaisy features prohibition-era cat furries who are smuggling alcohol after their head honcho passes away, leaving his wife to take care of the underground speakeasy. It's fun to read, the characters are lively, different, and just so engaging. Comics are made in earnest when the writing and art styles blend together well. This One Summer suffered from average writing with amazing visuals. Other comics feature great writing and scribbles. Lackadaisy finds that perfect middle ground, and I can't help but keep reading it.
Every single frame is incredibly detailed, to the point of it being impossible to do a strip in a couple of days, even without sleep.
The only downside is I can definitely see this not being someone's slice of cake.
The sepia tone, the prohibition background, there's a lot of research done on this comic, lots of words that aren't in our regular vocabulary which can be intimidating or come off as pretentious if not read in jest or within the context of the comic

Here's a fun little fact from the wikipedia page.

"In 2007, Lackadaisy won every award for which it was nominated in the Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards, including "Outstanding Newcomer" and "Outstanding Artist".[citation needed] In 2008, Lackadaisy won five Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards, including "Outstanding Artist", "Black and White Art", and "Website Design".[2]"

This comic is another great inspiration, just in how beautifully expressive characters are, the meticulous writing, and the obvious love poured into it.
Recently they also had funding up for an animated short of the comic.

With a goal of 80,000 - it surpassed that into 300,000.
I recommend it as an amazing, funny, whimsical old-timey style read with characters you can't get enough of.
